Those who get unsocketed Unique or Set weapons with good IAS can choose to use the Larzuk socketing quest to gain one socket for a Shael rune to improve their IAS further. This rune drops starting in Nightmare, and may be dropped by the Countess starting on that difficulty level.
The Shael rune gives 20% Increased Attack Speed when inserted into a weapon. This trait is only found on Magic-quality jewels, not Rare. Starting at level 39, you can sometimes find the magic-quality Jewel of Fervor, which gives 15% IAS. Melee, Missile, and Thrown Weapons (25), Gloves (43) Melee, Missile, and Thrown Weapons (5), Gloves (20) The number following the item type indicates the minimum level needed to get this suffix on an item. These are normally found on Weapons, but can also be found on Gloves. Some Rare items can have suffixes that give them increased attack speed. Realistically, that still gives plenty of options, since most high IAS options are found on weapons. All other classes and specs can benefit from IAS on all other gear items.
